ADMISSION CRITERIA
According to the admissions office, the following are the most important
aspects of admission: GMAT scores and work experience top the list, followed
by undergraduate GPA, the interview, and essays. The school also looks for
“motivation and leadership potential” among prospective MBAs.
ESSAY QUESTIONS
1. Discuss your career goals and how they led to your decision to pursue an
MBA. How did you choose the Graduate School of Management at UC Davis? How
will you contribute to the learning experience of others in your class? (3
pages maximum)
2. Taking risks and learning from those experiences are important attributes
of a manager. Describe a project or work situation where you stepped beyond
the boundaries required by the job and achieved a successful result. In
addition, describe a situation where the risk you took did not achieve the
desired result. (2 pages maximum)
3. On a more personal level, summarize the personal experiences that have
shaped who you are—your family background, people who have influenced you,
obstacles you have had to overcome and major turning points in your life. (2
pages maximum)
